American D-Day Experience 3 Day Tour

Omaha Beach D-Day Normandy Tour

Our American D-Day Experience 3 Day Normandy Tour is designed to give a comprehensive overview of the American Forces on D-Day June 6 1944 and the six days that followed.

This magnificent 3 Day tour begins in the US Airborne sector on the western flank of the Normandy invasion. The tour visits many sites of intense action by units of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions and also the amphibious landings at UTAH Beach by the US 4th and 90th Infantry Divisions, looking closely at the naval and air co-operation.

The following day the tour continues to follow the American Airborne Divisions as they battled on to fulfill their objectives in the rugged Normandy Bocage (hedgerows) and the flooded plains at the base of the estuary. In the afternoon the tour looks at the western flank of US V Corps and visits the sites made famous by the US Army Rangers.

The third day the tour moves into the OMAHA Beach sector concentrating on the beach landings of the the US 1st and 29th Infantry Divisions. The tour pays an emotional visit to the Normandy American Military Cemetery and looks into further detail at the landings and how it all fits together and the role the French Resistance and civilians played.

You can also add days – as many as you like – for example if you wanted to add The Battle of St-Lô, The Falaise Pocket or The Battle of Mortain to the routing or maybe our British and Canadian tours – there’s plenty to choose from. You can also swop days out for days of other tours. All tours are private so plenty of flexibility.

If family members were involved I can also tailor the tour to focus on specific units, sites and areas of interest.

I feel like I won't be able to put into words how much we enjoyed our three day tour with Gary of Pegasus Tours. I have read many books about D-Day, the battles of Normandy, and the Resistance, but with Gary's depth of knowledge, it came alive - from giving information about the larger context of these events to the small, personal but very touching details that brought the reality of it all home.
Gary also took into account our special interests in designing an itinerary, which we truly appreciated. What a wonderful experience!
